I never liked cats.
But things have way of changing.
I've noticed that I shower more now, I'll wear makeup without having to be tackled, and I wore a dress at my wedding. Yes, I congratulate myself daily.
Another change has been my affection toward the clawed, fuzzy, snooty creatures we call cats.
I married into a single white man, single meowing cat situation. His name is Ramzees... for short. His full name is Ramzees Chinatown Killer Chaos. We call him all kinds of things, but mostly we call him KIDDEN. If you have met me, you have heard me say this word dripping with the affection and cutesy pie smultz that only cat lovers have the patience for. And even they raise an eyebrow at the obvious sentimental ooze coming out of my mouth.
Ramzees lives in a house without a cat door. Thomas and I wake up in the middle of the night to kitten paws padding at the door, wanting to come inside. Annoyed, one of us inevitably throws off the covers to stumble to the door to let him in. He only drinks running water. Soon after we have colapsed back in the bed, warmed by the covers, we hear a small tapping from the bathroom tub. Cat wants water. Livid, one of us casts the warmth of the blanket aside to satiate a thirsty cat. His highness demands to be loved, obeyed, fed, watered and worshiped. What a deal!
Cat- "Here's the deal human: You can feed me, give me a nice warm place to sleep, wake up at ungodly hours of the morning to obey my bidding, loose sleep, have furniture wrecked from my scratching, have some scratch wounds of your own, pay extra for rent, have a hard time finding places to live, listen to my fighting in the middle of the night, get cat hair all over your clothes and trip over me in the kitchen. And for all this Ill let you look at me, and sometimes you can pet me."
Its confusing I know. I never liked cats. The change happens when the cat fools you into thinking it likes you. It is impossible to resist. Then, one day, you wake up and realise that half your wardrobe has cats on it, your wallet, pillows, and a few posters. I still don't like cats, but that doesn't seem to matter much anymore.
